This is a mini project, almost a learning base.
Day 1: Pick your shape
Day 2: Make it a form. Check out this link to learn how: http://christylovespaper.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Day 3: Watch "Between the Folds" documentary (video below)
The origami in this documentary is intimidating but very inspirational. There are an abundance of resources online. If you are a beginner to paper folding try searching for "beginner origami" or "beginner paper folds."
After Movie:
- Finish gluing boxes together. Unplug all hot glue guns, cool, and put away.
- "SPACE"
- VESSEL pieces (if you are working in clay)
- Blog
NO MATERIAL CHALLENGE WORK WILL BE DONE UNTIL NEXT WEEK!!!!
Day 4: Watch Tissue Paper video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HZ0epTLZPk4
After video:
- Covering your piece with paper. Your form should be covered with paper on all sides.
- Use a variety of folds to cover your piece. You can look up using your phones different beginner origami or quilling techniques.
- All areas of your form (but the bottom) must be covered.
-You may use a variety of drawing materials to add to your piece (located at the front cart)
CLEAN UP 10 BEFORE THE END OF CLASS! MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS PERFECT OTHERWISE YOU SPEND THE ENTIRE TIME CLEANING IN CLASS NEXT WEEK WHEN I GET BACK.
Use paper that is located on the tool cart to create your work. Think about all sides. Is your piece something abstract? Non-objective? Or are you going for a more realistic look? When you are working be conscious of what you are creating. You do not have to limit yourself to the white of the paper, feel free to add other mediums. Photograph as you go.
Day 5: Watch video (elephant) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_dlIUW7paWo
After video:
Continue to work on your pieces. Photograph as you go.
